The retail incubator space

One of the smaller retail units at Ebury Edge is dedicated to young, local retail startups that are looking to test their idea for the first time. This brilliant opportunity is available at a discounted rate for a few weeks up to a few months.

 

It will allow Westminster residents to offer their services or products to the local community with the flexibility of a short-term pop up minimising commercial risks and focusing on experimenting and testing business viability.

 

We hope that this opportunity can provide the stepping stone to take on a more permanent retail space at Ebury Edge or elsewhere in the neighbourhood. Please read through the criteria to find out if this opportunity would apply to you.

Details

  • Small retail unit of 12 sq ms

  • Available for 6 weeks up to 3 months

  • £325 incl. VAT per month

  • Inclusive of service charge (utilities, internet, waste collection)

  • Comes with flexible furniture package

  • Completely self contained and with private access 

  • Shared kitchenette and toilets

Selection criteria

  • Social or community benefit: All products or services need to clearly demonstrate a benefit to local residents and the surrounding community and/or showcase how it can help activate the area by providing a new offer.

  • Affordability: Products and services on offer need to cater for the diverse demographic of the area and their different levels of income.

  • Localness: This space is accessible to the City of Westminster residents. However, if there aren’t enough applicants or businesses with tangible benefits to the local community we will consider applications from outside of the borough as well.

  • Quality: The product or service on offer needs to be of high quality, examples of products or demonstrable previous experience delivering the service have to be provided during the application process.

  • First space: The incubator unit is reserved for individuals or start-ups who have not leased a retail space before.
